Dear local resident,

I would like to ask your views about life in Oldham and the issues that are important to you.  We will use the results from this survey to inform:
   · initiatives to help residents through the recession
   · health and wellbeing services in the area
   · efforts to bring more outside investment and funding into services for Oldham residents
   · improvements to local areas, housing and services.

We carry out a similar survey every couple of years and the information it gives us is extremely useful. In the past, we have used the information given to us by residents such as yourself to:
   · support efforts to keep public payphones operating
   · help tackle the difficulties that some people have in affording to heat their homes
   · identify and commission the kinds of health and wellbeing services needed by local people
   · help bring external funding into Oldham that lets us deliver more services to residents.

It does not matter if you’ve only just moved into the area, or if you do not pay Council Tax, it is important that we hear everybody’s views so that we can put our resources where it really matters.

We have appointed an independent research agency, Ipsos MORI North, to undertake this survey on our behalf.  As a thank you for taking part, you can enter a prize draw with two prizes of £250 each and ten prizes of £50 each.  The draw will be made on 31st March 2010 and Ipsos MORI North will write to the winners on that day.

All of your answers will be treated in the strictest confidence and will only be used to inform efforts to improve the local area. If you have any questions or concerns about this survey please do not hesitate to contact Rose at Ipsos MORI North on 0161 240 2401.

I very much hope you will be able to take part and feel sure that you will find it interesting. Thank you very much for your help in advance.

Yours sincerely,

Nick Brown OBE
Chair, Oldham Partnership
